About Dolphin's Nose
A scenic drive along the winding ghat-roads of Coonoor will take you to Dolphin’s Nose, a viewpoint that offers an enthralling view of the blue mountains of Nilgiris and the lush green tea estates on its slopes. Let your eyes and mind freely wander along the marvellous view of unending plains and lush green hillocks from the vantage point Dolphin Nose offers.
Dolphin's Nose is a popular viewpoint in Kodaikanal that offers a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys. The viewpoint is a flat rock protruding over a deep chasm, which resembles a dolphin's nose, hence the name.
At 6600 ft above sea level, the view from the dolphin’s nose is breath-taking. An ideal spot for those interested in trekking, the trail to the Dolphin’s Nose covers a distance of 3 kms in the Palani Hill Range. This view point is a favourite among the tourists who come to adore the glory of the Princess of hill-stations. Kodaikanal proudly fosters this location as an ideal spot from which one may marvel at the glory of its lush green landscapes, rough terrains, and the rugged charm of the towns.
The place gets its name because of the protruding flat rock that resembles the nose of a dolphin. It is from this point that you can get the best view of the valleys beneath. A visit to this view point is surely promising as the view itself is not the only offering it gives. The trail up to the dolphin’s nose is challenging enough to get you excited but not so difficult that it would tire you. The hike up to this point has a calming effect as it is adorned by elegant pine trees and the crisp, cool fog around that sets Kodaikanal a step above any other hill station. Do not forget to stop on your way to take a look at the small waterfalls that glide along this trail.
Walk a little further from the view point and you will find yourself at the Dolphin’s Nose Echo Point, from where you can wonder at the mystery of Mother Nature as its rich terrain and valleys return to you any sound you send it, but only after adding its own flavour of magic. The backdrop of mountains and clouds is ideal if you want to capture the moments that were well spent. This site is perfect for soaking in the soothing charisma of nature. It'll also surely make you connect with yourself and helps you realize how you also are a part of the mysterious tangle of nature.
